Standard Chartered Pledges $75 Billion for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals

The move comes amid a wider shift among financial firms globally to tackle their role in backing fossil fuel projects, as public concern matures about the climate crisis

Standard Chartered has announced it will deliver $75 billion in financing by 2024 towards sustainable development and clean energy projects, as it expands on its objectives to support the Paris Agreement on climate change.

The bank said it is also pursuing net zero emissions from its own network of branches and offices by 2030.

The move comes amid a wider shift among financial firms globally to tackle their role in backing fossil fuel projects, as public concern matures about the climate crisis.
