Kolkata-based SPML Infra has secured an order worth INR 186.41 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) for the extension of the 765/400/220 kV Bhadla-III Substation and Ramgarh Pooling Station.
The project falls under the 765 kV AIS Extension Substation Package SS-155T and involves the development of extra-high-voltage (EHV) transmission infrastructure to strengthen power evacuation across Rajasthan's renewable energy corridor, the company stated.
The project scope includes the extension of the 765/400/220 kV Ramgarh Pooling Station with two 765/400 kV 1,500 MVA ICT bays, two 400/220 kV 500 MVA ICT bays, one 400 kV line bay and two 220 kV line bays. At the Bhadla-III Substation, the works involve the augmentation of five 400/220 kV 500 MVA ICT bays, three 400 kV line bays and five 220 kV line bays.
The Bhadla and Ramgarh substations are key transmission infrastructure for evacuating renewable energy generated in western Rajasthan, one of India's major solar energy hubs. The expansion is expected to strengthen the transmission network and facilitate the integration of additional renewable energy into the national grid.
The order further strengthens SPML Infra's presence in the power transmission and distribution segment, where the company has executed substation, transmission network and rural electrification projects, connecting more than 20,000 villages with electricity.
Commenting on the development, Abhinandan Sethi, Managing Director, SPML Infra, said, “This order from Power Grid marks an important milestone in SPML Infra's journey as we expand our capabilities into the 765 kV extra-high-voltage transmission segment. India's energy transition requires a robust, resilient and future-ready power infrastructure, supported by advanced transmission networks and large-scale energy storage solutions. At SPML, we are strategically strengthening our capabilities across these complementary segments to play a meaningful role in enabling this transition.”
