SOMANY Ceramics has started procurement of renewable power energy from the recently commissioned 103 MWp Sirsa Solar Project in Haryana in a captive model. The company has secured 9.9 MW of renewable energy capacity through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), enabling the Kassar manufacturing facility to access clean, reliable and competitively priced renewable power for the next 25 years. The project is expected to generate approximately 1.56 crore units (kWh) of renewable electricity annually for SOMANY, meeting a significant portion of the plant's energy requirements while reducing dependence on conventional grid power.

Further strengthening its renewable energy portfolio, SOMANY has also commissioned a 2.5 MW rooftop solar power system at Sudha Somany Ceramics manufacturing facility in Tirupati under an OPEX model. The installation is expected to generate approximately 30 lakh units (kWh) of clean electricity annually under a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

In addition to the existing roof top solar power system of 2.5 MWp at its Kassar manufacturing facility and 1 MWp at its Kadi manufacturing facility and open access power purchase of 1MWp each at its Kadi manufacturing facility and at its Somany Piastrelle, the company has initiated renewable power procurement for its Kassar manufacturing facility in Haryana while simultaneously expanding clean energy adoption at its Sudha Somany Ceramics plant in Tirupati through a rooftop solar installation.

With these additions the company is expected to generate nearly 2.54 crore units of green electricity annually, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions while strengthening SOMANY's clean energy portfolio.

Commenting on the development, Abhishek Somany, Managing Director and CEO, SOMANY Ceramics, said, "As a responsible corporate citizen, we are committed to progressively transforming our manufacturing ecosystem through cleaner technologies, responsible resource management and increased adoption of renewable energy. The anchor of our decarbonisation journey lies in accelerating our transition toward a diversified, green energy mix. We have ramped up the consumption of solar power across our primary manufacturing facilities. Simultaneously, we have institutionalised advanced Waste Heat Recovery Systems (WHRS) across our production lines. Complementing our green power migration is our uncompromising approach to resource circularity. Our production facilities operate on advanced closed-loop filtration mechanisms to maintain Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) milestones, treating and recirculating 100 percent of process water back into our operations. Furthermore, our raw material sourcing strategy has been heavily optimized to substitute virgin minerals with recycled ceramic scrap.”

These projects demonstrate the Company's continued focus on integrating sustainable practices into its manufacturing operations, improving resource efficiency and contributing towards India's renewable energy ambitions.
