SOLARWATT launches SOLARWATT Solutions 2012 product campaign
German premium supplier re-structures product portfolio and introduces four new solar modules
Product innovations are the foundation stones for the new SOLARWATT systems, which are to be presented at the Intersolar trade fair

German premium supplier SOLARWATT AG is restructuring its product portfolio and classifying its product lines into two segments, SOLARWATT ORANGE LINE and SOLARWATT BLUE LINE. This classification will enable customers to easily identify the designated use of SOLARWATT AG solar systems in the future. The color orange indicates the SOLARWATT ORANGE LINE, which is intended for the residential segment, including houses, apartment buildings, terraces and carports.
Blue represents products in the SOLARWATT BLUE LINE, which have been specially developed for the business segment. These products are designed for use on the roofs of commercial buildings, such as office blocks, industrial premises, warehouses, agricultural buildings and greenhouses.
Two new product lines for optimum use of solar energy
SOLARWATT is launching sales of these new product lines as of mid-April. The introduction of solar module SOLARWATT BLUE 60P will set the ball rolling, followed by the launch of other products such as SOLARWATT BLUE 60P, SOLARWATT BLUE 60P laminate, SOLARWATT ORANGE 54M and SOLARWATT ORANGE 54M style over the next few weeks. The market launch for new solar modules and systems is accompanied by the unique SOLARWATT Solutions 2012 product campaign, which presents and explains the new SOLARWATT systems in a simple and understandable way.
Premium manufacturer focuses on individual customer needs
SOLARWATT is thus providing an effective response to existing and future market needs. “These newly innovated products also form the foundation stones for SOLARWATT’s new solar power systems,” explains Detlef Neuhaus, Head of Sales and Marketing at SOLARWATT AG. “We will be presenting our new systems for the first time at the Intersolar trade fair.” Before then, other new solar modules will be added to complete this German premium supplier’s product range. “Customers can rely on our solutions. Our solar systems allow photovoltaics to be integrated into buildings and are able to cater to all needs of home owners, business customers, architects or installers,” affirms Neuhaus.
New standard product for industrial roofs – easy, stable and inexpensive
The latest newly developed product is SOLARWATT BLUE 60P. “Our new solar module SOLARWATT BLUE 60P is to become our standard product and, consequently, the core piece in our solar power systems for flat roofs and industrial roofs,” says Detlef Neuhaus, Head of Sales and Marketing at SOLARWATT AG. This is a standard module with 60 polycrystalline solar cells featuring an efficiency of up to 17 percent. This solar module weighs just 19 kilograms, even though it is fitted with a 40 mm frame, which provides optimum mechanical stability and torsional strength. It is thus ideal for use on flat roofs and pitched industrial roofs. As with all SOLARWATT BLUE LINE solar modules, SOLARWATT BLUE 60P is also tested to ensure that it can withstand a compressive load up to 5,400 pascals. SOLARWATT BLUE 60P is protected from potential-induced degradation (PID) by a suitable combination of materials and thus offers assured yields. A cost-optimized selection of materials also guarantees an excellent price/performance ratio. SOLARWATT BLUE 60P is available in five performance classes up to 245 watt peak.
The SOLARWATT BLUE 60P laminate version is also available as an option. A frameless laminate with a semi-transparent backsheet film, this model is particularly well-suited for use in greenhouses. Strength is assured by structured solar glass four millimeters thick. Unlike standard module SOLARWATT BLUE 60P, which is connected centrally, SOLARWATT BLUE 60P laminate features localized connection technology.
Residential module developed in cooperation with installers – optimum yields and load-bearing capacity
The solar module SOLARWATT ORANGE 54M is designed for the residential segment. This new product has been developed in cooperation with expert installers. “Its installation height is designed to match the spacing of five roofing tiles,” states Neuhaus. “This simplifies both planning and installation. The compact module dimensions ensure roof surfaces can be put to optimum use.” SOLARWATT ORANGE 54M features 54 monocrystalline solar cells with an efficiency of up to 19.5 percent. A frame 50 millimeters high and structured glass four millimeters thick provide effective mechanical stability and load-bearing capacity. SOLARWATT ORANGE LINE modules are tested to verify they can withstand a compressive load of at least 6,000 pascals.
New chip diode technology for greater electricity yield
This solar module is also the first to use innovative chip diode technology. The chip diodes replace the bypass diodes previously used and prevent any sections of modules from heating up when they are covered by shade. The diodes are so small that they can be integrated into the so-called cross connectors which interconnect the solar module strings They impress thanks to their optimum resistance to power surges and improved temperature behavior. Since they are so small and do not become hot, they can be laminated into the module. This, in turn, makes it easier to interconnect solar modules more easily and more efficiently. The central junction box can be replaced by localized connection technology using MC4 couplers. This allows installers to use shorter cables to connect individual solar modules to one another, thus reducing power losses and improving electricity yield for the whole system.
SOLARWATT ORANGE 54M is available in three performance classes up to 235 watt peak. This solar module is also protected against potential-induced degradation (PID) by a suitable combination of materials and thus offers assured yields. An optimized cell matrix, in which the gap between individual solar cells is just four millimeters wide, makes it possible to include a wide dirt rim. This solar module is also available in the SOLARWATT ORANGE 54M style version with black cells, a black frame and black backsheet film
