Solar Wadi and AOU Oman Sign Landmark Solar PV Agreement to Advance Sustainable Energy in Oman

The agreement states that Solar Wadi will take the lead in developing, funding, and running the solar plant and AOU Oman agrees to act as the Off-taker of the Renewable Energy generated by the Solar facility, thus demonstrating a shared interest in sustainability and environmental protection.

Solar Wadi and Arab Open University Oman (AOU Oman) announce their signing of a landmark Solar PV agreement. It's signed with the presence of H.E. Prof Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrooqi -  Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation -  at Oman Sustainability Week being held in OCEC Muscat. ​​

The agreement was signed by Prof. Mohammed Al Badi, the university Rector and Mustafa Al Hinai, the Chairman of Solar Wadi. This agreement is a great progress in the right direction towards contributing to the achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, Oman 2040 Vision and Oman's Carbon Neutral Target.

The agreement states that Solar Wadi will take the lead in developing, funding, and running the solar plant and AOU Oman agrees to act as the Off-taker of the Renewable Energy generated by the Solar facility, thus demonstrating a shared interest in sustainability and environmental protection.

The 1.1 MWp solar plant, planned to be a high-tech facility, will use solar energy to produce over 1.8 million kWh of clean and efficient electricity annually. This will contribute directly to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, Oman 2040 Vision and Oman's Carbon Neutral Target as it will reduce carbon emissions by avoiding 720 tons of CO2 annually, or 18,000 tons over 25 years.
