Solar Cell Capacity in ALMM Surpasses 35 GW in August 2026

MNRE has updated the ALMM List-II, adding 3,709 MW of TOPCon solar cell capacity in August 2026, taking the total enlisted capacity to 35,467 MW. Waaree Energies, Emmvee Energy and Avaada Electro have increased their capacities.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has updated the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) by adding 3,709 MW of TOPCon solar cell capacity in List-II in August 2026. With this, the cumulative cell manufacturing capacity enlisted in ALMM reaches 35,467 MW.

Three existing manufacturers have increased their enlisted capacities. Avaada Electro has added 3,011 MW of TOPCon G12R cell capacity from its Nagpur plant, increasing its total enlisted capacity to 3,621 MW.

Emmvee Energy has increased its capacity by 600 MW to 2153 MW. Waaree Energies has added TOPCon Cell models, increasing its capacity by 98 MW, taking its total TOPCon capacity to 4,021 MW. It also has 1,328 MW of Mono PERC solar cell capacity listed in ALMM-II. Total enlisted capacities for Waaree Energies have reached 5,349 MW.

This is the ninth revision of the list since being first published on July 31, 2025.

The list was last updated on July 22, 2026, when Avaada Electro entered ALMM List-II for solar PV cells by adding 610 MW of N-Type TOPCon G12 Solar Cell capacity from its plant in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Additionally, Fujiyama Power Systems increased its ALMM-listed Bifacial Mono PERC Solar Cells capacity by 640 MW to 1,077 MW.

The cut-off date for the implementation of ALMM List-II for utility-scale projects tendered by state and central utilities and REIAs where ALMM-II applicability is decided based on the date of bid submission, was August 31, 2025.

MNRE, last month, extended the exemption from ALMM-II requirements of using domestically manufactured solar cells for net metering and open access solar projects till December 31, 2026.

In March 2026, MNRE expanded its ALMM framework to include ingots and wafers under a new List-III, mandating their use from June 1, 2028. The first list will be published when at least three independent wafer manufacturers with a combined 15 GW capacity are enlisted, and the cut-off date will be 7 days after the initial list issuance.
