Smarten Power Systems, an Indian power backup and solar energy solutions company catering to residential and commercial users, has announced the launch of the 8th Series of its MPPT Solar PCU range, named as HELIX 1100–1250.
Available across India at a starting price of INR 5350 , the HELIX 1100–1250 series is designed to accelerate solar energy adoption by offering efficient, reliable and cost-effective power backup solutions for residential households and rural communities. The company expects strong traction from both installers and end-users, supported by its expanding solar ecosystem and extensive nationwide distribution network.
The HELIX series comprises two models, HELIX 1100 and HELIX 1250, both operating on a 12V architecture but engineered to deliver different performance thresholds. The HELIX 1100 is designed to handle up to 600W of solar panel input, while the higher-capacity HELIX 1250 extends support up to 1200W, enabling greater solar harvesting capability for larger load requirements. Both models are built on MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) technology, ensuring higher solar conversion efficiency compared to conventional PWM-based systems.
A key differentiator of the HELIX platform is its ability to support 24V solar panels while operating on a 12V system architecture, enabling users to significantly reduce installation costs since 24V panels are more economical and widely used in modern solar deployments. This design approach improves/ affordability without compromising system efficiency. Both variants are equipped with pure sine wave output, delivering stable and clean power suitable for sensitive household appliances. The system also features a fast changeover time of less than 10 milliseconds in UPS mode, ensuring uninterrupted power during grid fluctuations, while WUPS mode offers flexible backup switching for varying load conditions.
The HELIX series integrates advanced solar-grid-battery power sharing logic, enabling intelligent distribution of energy between solar, grid and battery sources. The system is designed to prioritise solar energy usage by default, ensuring maximum self-consumption of generated power, while automatically balancing grid support when solar availability is insufficient. This is further enhanced by configurable SOC-based control that manages grid connect and disconnect thresholds based on battery health.
Speaking on the launch, Rajnish Sharma, Whole Time Director and Chief Executive Officer of Smarten, said, “The biggest challenge for solar users today is not just adoption, but getting consistent performance without high installation cost, technical complexity and energy loss during switching between solar, grid and battery. The HELIX series is designed to directly address these pain points by bringing advanced MPPT efficiency, intelligent power sharing, and 24V panel compatibility into a simple, wall-mount system. This allows customers to reduce upfront system cost, maximize solar utilization, and ensure reliable backup power without depending heavily on the grid. Our focus is to make solar not just accessible, but genuinely efficient and economically meaningful for everyday households and rural users.”
In terms of battery compatibility, both HELIX 1100 and 1250 support Li-ion, SMF, and tubular batteries, with dedicated lithium charging profiles enabling optimized performance for modern energy storage systems. The product also includes deep discharge battery recovery functionality, designed to extend battery life and improve long-term system reliability. The interface is built around a graphical LCD display, offering real-time visibility of input voltage, output load, battery status, charging current, and system mode. Users also receive fault alerts for overload, short circuit, temperature anomalies, wiring faults and other critical system conditions, ensuring higher operational safety.
From a protection standpoint, the HELIX series incorporates multi-layer safeguards including overload protection with staged shutdown, reverse battery protection, over-temperature cut-off above 100°C, backfeed protection and electronic phase-to-phase safety mechanisms. These are supported by robust electrical isolation standards and leakage protection systems designed for field reliability.
