State-owned SJVN Ltd announced that its subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL), has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Norwegian company Ocean Sun for a pilot membrane-based floating solar project in India.

This collaboration, under the India-Norway Task Force for Energy, seeks to explore new technologies in the field of green and clean energy.

Per the MoU, SGEL will be responsible for developing and financing the pilot project, which is expected to have a capacity of about 2 MW. Ocean Sun will provide patented technological support for this floating solar endeavor.

The signing of this MoU represents a step toward technology transfer and bilateral cooperation between India and Norway. The successful execution of the pilot project could open doors for the expansion of this innovative solar technology along India's extensive southern coastline.

SJVN's initiative aligns with the Indian government's ambitious target of achieving 50 percent of its energy from non-fossil fuel sources by the year 2030. This collaboration underscores the commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions and contributing to a sustainable energy future for India.
