SJVN has achieved a significant milestone with its 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project by successfully generating 1 Billion Units (BU) of energy on March 20, 2026. This achievement marks a major step in the company’s mission to contribute clean and sustainable energy to the national grid.

The project is located in Bikaner district of Rajasthan and is being implemented through its wholly owned subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy (SGEL). It has been developed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme – Phase II, Tranche III of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India.

The foundation stone of the project was laid by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, on January 3, 2023, at Jaipur. The project achieved its Commercial Operation Date (COD) on December 24, 2025.

The project is expected to generate approximately 2,454.55 million units (MU) of electricity in its first year and about 56 billion units cumulatively over 25 years. Over its operational life, it is projected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 2.78 million tonnes, contributing significantly to environmental sustainability.

The tariff for the project has been competitively fixed at INR 2.57 per unit, ensuring affordable green power. The generated electricity will be supplied to the states of Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir.

The Chairman and Managing Director of SJVN, said, “The achievement of 1 Billion Units generation from our 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project is a testament to SJVN’s strong commitment towards accelerating India’s clean energy transition. This milestone reflects our technical excellence and operational efficiency in executing large-scale renewable energy projects.”

He further added, “SJVN remains dedicated to expanding its renewable portfolio and contributing meaningfully to the Government of India’s vision of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity. Projects like Bikaner are pivotal in ensuring energy security while promoting sustainability.”

The Director (Personnel) at SJVN, stated, “This milestone underscores SGEL’s capability to deliver large-scale solar projects within stipulated timelines and achieve early generation benchmarks. The Bikaner project stands as a model for future renewable projects in terms of scale, efficiency and environmental impact.”
