SJVN Limited has announced the successful commencement of commercial operations at its latest endeavor, the 50 MW Gujrai Solar Power Station situated in Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh. With this milestone, SJVN's total installed power capacity has reached 2,277 MW, solidifying its position as a key player in the energy sector, with ten operational power stations.

Executed through its renewable arm, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), the Gujrai Solar Power Station represents a strategic investment, totaling INR 281 crores. Anticipated annual revenue from energy generation is estimated at approximately INR 32 crores, with projections of 107 million units generated in the inaugural year alone. Over a span of 25 years, cumulative energy generation is forecasted to reach 2,477 million units.

In light of this accomplishment, Chairperson and Managing Director, Geeta Kapur, expressed SJVN's commitment to bolstering India's non-fossil-fuel-based energy generation, aligning with national objectives such as achieving Net Zero by 2070.

The journey towards establishing the Gujrai Solar Power Station began in November 2022 when SGEL secured the grid-connected solar project through a Tariff-based Competitive Bidding Process conducted by the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA). The favorable tariff rate of INR 2.98 per unit paved the way for a Power Purchase Agreement inked with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), spanning 25 years.

SJVN's dedication to renewable energy is further evidenced by its recent commissioning of multiple projects, underlining its commitment to achieving an installed capacity of 25 GW by 2030 and a target of 50 GW by 2040.
