Siemens Opens Applications for 2020-2021 Scholarship Program for Sustainable Career

Under this program, the company will provide financial assistance to deserving meritorious students. Additionally, internships, mechatronics, soft skills trainings, projects and mentorships provided by Siemens will also acquaint these bright minds with the dynamics of the industry, thereby leading to their holistic development.

Siemens Ltd, an intelligent infrastructure provider for buildings and distributed energy systems, has launched the 8th edition of Siemens Scholarship Program for 2020-2021.

Based on the German model of dual education, the program hones youth to become industry-ready engineers, and launch a sustainable career in engineering, R&D or manufacturing.

Under this program, the company will provide financial assistance to deserving meritorious students. Additionally, internships, mechatronics, soft skills trainings, projects and mentorships provided by Siemens will also acquaint these bright minds with the dynamics of the industry, thereby leading to their holistic development.

Moreover, the scholarship program has been available for students throughout the 4 years of graduation and 50 per cent of scholarships have been reserved for girls.

As of 2020, 735 students from 77 government engineering colleges across 23 states in India have been part of the Siemens Scholarship Program.​

Commenting on the development, Sunil Mathur, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Ltd said that, “Siemens Scholarship Program is a unique answer to India’s challenge of preparing industry-ready engineers. Siemens Scholars who have graduated from this program have turned role models in their communities. The lives of these students are completely transformed as they go through the program based on the German model of Dual Education and subsequently get employment in some of the best companies in the country. This is where Siemens is truly making real what matters.”

The scholarship program follows a stringent selection process, and for the eligibility criterion - first-year students of Government Engineering colleges from the Mechanical / Production, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Electronics & Telecommunication, and Computer Science /Information Technology streams can apply.

Also, candidates having age up to 20 years, with minimum 60 per cent aggregate marks in SSC can apply.

The other eligibility criterion includes candidates having HSC or equivalent result with minimum 50 per cent aggregate and minimum 60 per cent PCM aggregate, and whose annual family income will not be more than Rs 2 lakhs can apply.

Meanwhile, the last date for submitting the applications is February 15, 2021.
