Shell Lubricants has once again been ranked as the world’s leading supplier of finished lubricants for the 19th consecutive year, according to the 23rd edition of Kline & Company’s Global Lubricants: Market Analysis and Assessment 2025.

Kline’s report places Shell firmly at the top with an 11.6 percent global market share, maintaining balanced sales across its core segments ,37 percent consumer automotive, 32 percent industrial, and 31 percent commercial automotive. The study also highlights Shell’s continued leadership in all three categories of lubricants: consumer automotive, commercial automotive, and industrial.

Jason Wong, Global Executive Vice President of Shell Lubricants, said, “At nineteen consecutive years of leadership, we remain focused on powering progress across consumer, commercial, and industrial applications. We continue to invest in premium, high-efficiency products that deliver long-term value and strengthen our customer relationships.”

Sushmita Dutta, Senior Project Manager at Kline, added, "Maintaining the top spot for nearly two decades is a remarkable achievement. Shell’s success reflects consistent investment in advanced technologies and strong customer engagement.”

Shell’s position is supported by its portfolio of premium brands, including Shell Helix, Rimula, Tellus, and Gadus, recognised globally for performance and reliability. In 2025, Shell Helix Ultra became one of the first brands to meet the latest API SQ specifications, underscoring its leadership in engine protection technology. The company also introduced Shell Advance Ultra with API SP, its most advanced motorcycle engine oil, and renewed its decade-long partnership with BMW M Motorsport.

Beyond the automotive segment, Shell is pushing innovation in the digital energy space. Its DLC Fluid S3, a next-generation Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) solution, achieved an industry-first milestone in May when Shell’s immersion cooling fluids became the first ever certified by Intel for use in global data centers.
