Submersible pump manufacturer Shakti Pumps has bagged a INR 350-crore work order under the PM-KUSUM scheme from the Green Energy Development Agency. Around 7,700 pumps will be installed in Haryana under this scheme.
Appreciating the scheme, Dinesh Patidar, Chairman, Shakti Pumps said that it not only encourages farmers to conserve water and electricity through solar energy but also enhances agricultural productivity through micro-irrigation techniques.
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) was launched in 2019. The main objective of this scheme was to add solar capacity of 30,800 MW by 2022 with total central financial support of INR 34,422 crore.
As the implementation of PM-KUSUM was adversely impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the scheme has been extended till March 2026. It comprises three components — Component A for installation of 10,000 MW of solar capacity by installing small power plants of capacity up to 2 MW, Component B to install 20 lakh standalone solar-powered agriculture pumps and Component C for solarisation of 15 lakh grid-connected agriculture pumps.
