SECI Signs MoU with GEDCOL, OHPC, and OREDA for 1,000 MWh BESS and 2.5 GW Solar Projects
Solar Energy Corporation of India has signed an MoU with GEDCOL, OHPC, and OREDA to develop large-scale renewable energy and storage projects, including a 1,000 MWh BESS, pumped storage projects and 2.5 GW of floating solar and solar projects with BESS in Odisha.

Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with three state-owned utilities – Green Energy Development Corporation of Odisha (GEDCOL), Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC) and Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) under the Government of Odisha.elopment Agency
The MoU primarily focuses on a 1,000 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), pumped storage projects, 2.5 GW floating solar/solar with BESS, and other cutting-edge renewable technologies, SECI stated.
The MoU was signed by A.K. Naik, Executive Director on behalf of SECI, Pranab Kumar Mohanty, Managing Director for GEDCOL, Amiya Kumar Mohanty, Director (Operations) on behalf of OHPC, and Saidutta Biplab Keshari Pradhan, CEO of OREDA. The signing ceremony was part of the Global Energy Leaders’ Summit held at Puri.
These projects are designed to bolster Odisha’s renewable energy infrastructure and accelerate the transition to clean energy. The initiative will not only enhance the state’s energy security but also create both direct and indirect employment opportunities through various contracts and initiatives, contributing to the local economy.
This collaboration marks a major step forward in Odisha’s clean energy transformation and highlights SECI’s commitment to advancing the country’s renewable energy goals, it said.
