The Government of Andhra Pradesh has formally issued Government Orders (GOs) to Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for two major clean-energy initiatives — the 1,200 MWh Nandyala Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project and a 50 MW hybrid solar power project.
The order was issued in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his cabinet during the Andhra Pradesh Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam, organised by DPIIT, Government of Andhra Pradesh, and CII.
SECI was represented by Director (PS) Sivakumar V. Vepakomma, who received the orders on behalf of the organisation. The ceremony was attended by Vice-President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan, Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, and State Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar.

The Ministry of Power, through an order dated January 23, 2025, designated SECI as the implementing agency for the 1200 MWh BESS project under Market-Based Operations. The project was subsequently approved by the Chairman, SECI Board Santosh Kumar Sarangi on October 22, 2025. Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has been closely monitoring the progress and development of both projects.
Both the BESS and Hybrid Solar projects will be developed under the CAPEX Mode, with SECI undertaking complete investment responsibilities.
“This achievement marks a significant step forward in accelerating large-scale energy storage and renewable power deployment in the state. It further strengthens SECI’s vision of building a cleaner, more resilient energy future for the nation,” SECI stated in a social media post.
With these approvals, Andhra Pradesh takes a decisive step toward strengthening grid reliability, integrating higher shares of renewable energy, and supporting India’s broader clean-energy transition.
