The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has announced that it has released a Notice Inviting Tenders (NIT) for setting up of 50 MW of Solar PV Plant at Kasargod Solar Park in Kerala.

The concise range of work for the winning bidders will include the design, engineering, procurement, supply, construction, erection,  testing, commissioning of the 50 MW (AC) Solar PV Power Plant. The solar power developers will also be accountable for the successful operation and maintenance (O&M) of the project.

In December 2018, The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) had issued a tender for the development of 200 MW of grid-connected solar projects in Kerala. The project will be developed on Independent Power Producer (IPP) mode.

The tender maintained that a single bidder must bid for a minimum 1 MW capacity and the upper ceiling for tariff has been fixed at Rs 3.50 by the KSEB.

Recently, while inaugurating solar energy projects worth Rs 37 lakh implemented by the Kuravilangadu panchayat, state power minister M.M. Mani said that in an attempt to build energy independence, the state has started to shift its focus to renewables.

The NIT for the project will be uploaded on the TCIL portal on February 6th, 2019.
