Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), is celebrating Seva Parv as part of the nationwide initiative to promote public service, community participation, and inclusive governance. As part of this observance, SECI organised a Seva Samvaad on the theme Amrit Urja for Viksit Bharat 2047 on September 20, 2025, at the Ashoka Hall, Manekshaw Centre, Delhi.
The event brought together policymakers, industry leaders, financiers, and thought leaders to reflect on India’s renewable energy achievements and deliberate on the pathway to a clean, resilient and energy-secure future. The event also coincided with SECI’s Foundation Day, marking 14 years of the organisation’s journey in advancing renewable energy in India.
The event commenced with a lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a welcome address by Akash Tripathi, Managing Director, SECI. He highlighted the new sectors and opportunities for the organisation and remarked that “To drive India’s renewable energy growth, we must overcome challenges and work on innovative models.”
He further added, “We must also establish export markets for green molecules, leverage falling battery storage costs, unlock long-term storage potential through pumped hydro, and enable RE adoption via market mechanisms, catering to the rising demand from the C & I consumers.”
Distinguished dignitaries, Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, MNRE and Chairman, SECI, Ramesh Babu V, Member, CERC, and Vineet Mittal, Chairman, AVAADA, shared their perspectives on India’s clean energy trajectory. They highlighted India’s remarkable transition in RE and its contribution to sustainable development, and the role of emerging technologies.
Santosh Sarangi, Secretary, MNRE and Chairman, SECI, highlighted the company’s role in the RE sector and added, “SECI has addressed critical market gaps through transparent bidding and payment security mechanisms. Over time, SECI has diversified into green hydrogen, wind, hybrid solutions, and battery storage. For greater expansion and uptake of RE, SECI should increasingly collaborate with States, DISCOMs and private developers to customise innovative supply models as per the market trends.”
He further added that working in association with ISA may give rich dividends to SECI, in its international efforts, as ISA is very active and is making a visible impact in the international arena.
The discussions were anchored around two thematic sessions. The first session, titled ‘Leading the Change - India’s Renewable Energy Success Story’, and the second session, ‘The Next Leap - India’s Clean Energy Pathway to 2047’, celebrated India’s progress in RE deployment and long-term vision for building resilient energy systems.
