SECI Floats Tender for 50 MW/100 MWh Standalone Energy Storage System

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has invited bids for the short term utilisation of a 100 MWh standalone energy storage system with a capacity of 50 MW for two hours, under tariff based competitive bidding.

The tender seeks Energy Storage System Developers for the utilisation of the storage capacity on an “on demand” basis. The selection process will include an electronic reverse auction.

According to SECI’s tender notice, developers will be selected to provide the 50 MW/100 MWh storage capacity under a short term arrangement. The tender is aimed at making standalone energy storage capacity available when required, supporting flexibility in power system operations.

SECI has scheduled the pre bid meeting for September 8, 2026, while the deadline for online submission of bids is September 30, 2026. Offline submissions will be accepted until October 5, with bids scheduled to be opened on October 6.

The latest tender adds to India's growing procurement of standalone battery energy storage systems as renewable energy penetration increases and the power system requires greater flexibility to manage variations in electricity generation and demand.
