SECI Announces INR 600 Crore Maiden Debenture Issue on NSE

Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued and listed its debut debenture issue on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), amounting to INR 600 crore. The Debentures will carry a coupon rate of 7.14 percent per annum and a maturity tenure of 10 years and will be tradable on NSE.

Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has successfully issued and listed its maiden issue of Unsecured, Rated, Non-Cumulative, Non-Convertible, Redeemable, Taxable Debentures on the National Stock Exchange amounting to INR 600 crore.

Reflecting strong investor confidence, the issue received an overwhelming response with 43 bids totalling INR 2,156.75 crore, against the total issue size of INR 600 crore. The Debentures will carry a coupon rate of 7.14 percent per annum and a maturity tenure of 10 years. The same are tradable on the National Stock Exchange.

The proceeds from the debentures will be utilised to fund capital expenditure of the company towards renewable energy projects, recoupment of capital expenditure already incurred towards renewable energy projects and other general corporate purposes.

This successful issuance will diversify SECI’s funding sources and also reinforce its role in advancing India’s clean energy transition.

SECI reported a 16.49 percent increase in revenue in FY25 to INR 15,185.10 crore from INR 13,035.07 crore in FY24. Its profit after tax surged by 15.11 percent to INR 501.92 crore in FY25 from INR 436.03 crore in FY24.

Backed by its strong balance sheet and 100 percent Government of India ownership, SECI continues to play a pivotal role in catalysing renewable energy investments across the country.
