Schneider Electric India, a global specialist in energy management, celebrating 50 years of operations in India, announced that it would be looking at a host of new initiatives in India going forward as part of its renewed commitment to the India market. The first of such initiatives was the commissioning of an automation solutions factory near Chennai. Other planned initiatives will be announced in due course.
The company also announced initiatives to strengthen its brand and retail presence in the Karnataka market – a region that comprises a very important market for Schneider Electric in India. Schneider Electric’s direct presence here ensures the easy availability of all products by connecting with the customer at the ground level and collaborating with channels and influencers to offer a comprehensive set of competitive products and solutions, encompassing the entire product range of Schneider Electric.
Highlighting Schneider Electric’s renewed commitment to the India market, Mr. Emmanuel Babeau, Deputy CEO in charge of Finance and Legal Affairs said, “India is a key market for Schneider Electric globally. Not only as a global manufacturing hub but also as an important R&D centre. As part of our focus on this market, we are already seeing a further addition of manufacturing capacity reflected in the launch of an automation plant near Chennai. In addition to our business objectives, one of our key responsibilities is also to change the lives of people at the bottom of the pyramid by providing them access to energy. The Schneider Electric India Foundation trains unemployed youth as electricians, puts solar powered lamps in villages that have no electricity, provides scholarships to students to pursue higher education & provides entrepreneurship opportunities to rural youth.”
“Karnataka is a key market for Schneider Electric and we are now looking at further strengthening our presence in this important region. We have seen good demand for our solutions not just from the Bangalore region but also from other Tier 2 and 3 towns of the state. We are very optimistic about the future potential and growth of the energy management market in this region. Bangalore, along with other markets in the state is going to be a key driver of Schneider Electric’s growth story in India”, added Anil Chaudhry, Managing Director and Country President, Schneider Electric India.
Schneider Electric India is also participating in ELECRAMA 2014, the world’s largest power transmission and distribution confluence which is being held in Bangalore this year. The theme & layout of the Schneider Electric pavilion at ELECRAMA 2014 is that of a smart, efficient, green city. The demos show our solutions in action from where electricity is distributed, across the grid, across the city, to the workplace, industry, smart buildings, datacenters & in homes. 100 plants have also been placed in the pavilion to mitigate the carbon footprint that will be generated over the four days of the event.
To mark the 50 years of operations milestone, Schneider Electric had initiated a 50 city pan-India road-show to collaborate and share knowledge on how to solve energy and address sustainability challenges. The road-show – Xperience Efficiency Yatra – started from Delhi on October 1, 2013 and ended in Bangalore yesterday. The road-show was part of Schneider Electric India’s strategic initiative to connect with customers across geographies educating and informing them about the company’s solutions.
On the sidelines of the roadshow, the company organized a national study on the Energy consumption profile of Indian businesses and drivers for clean energy investment in partnership with AEEE. As part of this initiative, Schneider Electric also announced its new India brand campaign “50for50”. The campaign is aimed at creating a powerful connect with Indians at large emphasizing the need to save energy to ensure access to energy for all.
