SCHMID unveils EverFlow storage for domestic areas

Electrical storage system based on Vanadium-Redox-Flow-Technology

July 09, 2014. By Moulin

SCHMID Energy Systems GmbH presents a study of its EverFlow Compact Storage System based on the Vanadium-Redox-Flow-Technology. The completely in-house developed system provides up to 14 kWh with a maximum power of 5 kW. The battery unit allows remote maintenance and is equipped with a microcontroller for monitoring and optimization of charge & discharge cycles. Through separation of storage and power unit an optimal configuration for all applications can be chosen.

SCHMIDs Compact Storage is able to maximize the own electricity consumption of a one family house equipped with a rooftop photovoltaic plant. The device also is suited for intermediate storage and demand-oriented provision of power for electric cars.

The storage system can be installed in any frost proof room –its compact dimensions have similar space requirement to a refrigerator. Safety aspects and one-hundred percent recyclability are other advantages of this redox flow technology. Vanadium-Redox-Systems are neither explosive nor flammable. The electrolyte doesn’t contain any rare earth elements. Schmid produces the whole product line at its headquarters in Freudenstadt, Germany. The system extends the existing product portfolio of container storages with a power range from 12 – 48 kW and up to 180 kWh storage size.
