Schaeffler India Rolls Out Skilling Initiative for Youth in EV Maintenance
Schaeffler India has released a first-of-its-kind initiative to empower disadvantaged youth in the future-oriented field of electric vehicle (EV) maintenance.

A collaborative venture between Schaeffler India and Don Bosco Training Centre in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, is a part of the Schaeffler Technical Enhancement Programme (STEP).
The residential training hub will equip the students, aged 18-24 years, with an extensive six-month long training, culminating in a certificate from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
On completion, the students may leverage their differentiated skilling for opportunities in leading automotive companies and authorised dealerships for EV vehicle maintenance. For 2024, the goal is to train 180 students, the press release noted.
Harsha Kadam, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Schaeffler India, said, "This STEP Center will take Schaeffler India’s dedication to enable social inclusion and equal opportunities by empowering our future – the under-represented youth."

The rigorous six-month training course will include modules on EV battery maintenance, auto electricals and electronics, and computer numerical control (CNC). They will prepare the students to qualify as EV service technicians, mechanics of automotive electrical parts & electronics, and CNC programmers.
