Saudi Arabia and China Discuss Ways to Achieve Energy Transitions in a Sustainable Manner
The conversation held in Riyadh included topics like renewable energy, clean hydrogen, energy efficiency and efforts on both sides to achieve Saudi Vision 2030 and Beijing’s Belt and Road Initiative.

Saudi Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman held a meeting with Zhang Jianhua, his Chinese counterpart to discuss the areas of cooperation between the two nations in various fields of energy. The conversation that took place in Riyadh included topics like renewable energy, clean hydrogen, energy efficiency and efforts on both sides to achieve Saudi Vision 2030 and Beijing’s Belt and Road Initiative.
The discussion noted the means of combating climate challenges by adopting the Circular Carbon Economy (CCE), a framework to mitigate challenges and reduce emissions, mainly using carbon removal technologies. It further noted the Saudi-Chinese ambitions to promote cooperation in energy supply chains and contribute to enhancing effectiveness as well as flexibility.
The importance of ensuring the security of energy supply to markets, joint projects to convert crude oil into petrochemicals and innovative uses of hydrocarbons were also part of the talks.
Both ministers touched on the endeavour to enhance their cooperation in the energy sector supply chains to achieve energy transitions in a sustainable manner.
