Saudi Arabian Refineries Company (SARCO) has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Clean Energy Company, has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with UK-based renewable energy firm AGR for the offtake of green ammonia from a proposed production facility in the Kingdom.

Under the MoU, AGR intends to purchase 100 percent of the green ammonia output from the planned plant, which is expected to be developed in Jazan Industrial City. The agreement is effective from the date of execution and will remain valid for six months, unless extended or modified through mutual written consent, SARCO said in a statement filed with the stock exchange.

The proposed offtake arrangement follows SARCO’s earlier announcement in October 2025 regarding an MoU signed with UAE-based GO Energy Company to jointly establish a green ammonia production facility in Saudi Arabia.

SARCO said that the latest agreement reflects its ongoing efforts to advance clean energy projects and support the Kingdom’s strategy to expand into low-carbon fuels, including green hydrogen and ammonia, for both domestic use and export markets.
