Sarala Project Works, Oriana Power and Pace Digitek Win KTPCL’s 500 MW/1,000 MWh BESS Auction
Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation’s (KPTCL) auction for 500 MW/1,000 MWh standalone BESS projects has attracted the lowest bid of INR 2.49 lakh/MW/Month. A total capacity of 350 MW/700 MWh has been awarded to Sarala Project Works, Oriana Power, and Pace Digitek.

A total capacity of 350 MW/700 MWh was awarded to Sarala Project Works, Oriana Power and Pace Digitek.
Sarala Project Works emerged as the L1 bidder and was awarded a capacity of 50 MW/100 MWh at a tariff of INR 2.49 lakh/MW/Month.
Both Oriana Power and Pace Digitek quoted a tariff of INR 2.49 lakh/MW/Month and secured 50 MW/100 MWh and 250 MW/500 MWh, respectively.
The next two bids from NTPC Green Energy and JSW Neo Energy were significantly higher than the L1 tariff – INR 2.91 lakh/MW/Month and INR 3.09 lakh/MW/Month, respectively and were not awarded any capacity.
The tender for this was floated in February 2025.
The tender was for setting up of 7 grid-connected projects of standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS), for a cumulative storage capacity of 500MW/1000 MWh with complete two cycle charging/discharging under State Component of VGF Scheme.
The minimum bid size was 50 MW/100 MWh and the maximum contracted capacity allocation was restricted to 250 MW/500 MWh.
Projects must be located in the vicinity of Substations of the STU network in the State of Karnataka. Land identification and allocation for the projects will be under the scope of the KPTCL i.e. State Transmission Utility owning the identified substation.
