SAIC Inks MoU with Audi to Develop EVs

SAIC Motor has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Audi on jointly developing intelligent and electric vehicles (EVs).

As per the MoU agreement, both parties will leverage their respective advantages and strengths to accelerate Audi’s development of new EVs in a way to fulfill the demand of Chinese customers for premium connected EVs.

SAIC Motor, the greatest car manufacturer in China, will make optimum utilisation of its own technological benefits to jointly develop new products with the German marque.

The company is working towards the innovative development of new energy vehicles and intelligent driving vehicles, nurturing new growth drivers through innovation and transformation.

The agreement is based upon cooperation and respective strengths in innovative technologies, SAIC Motor and Audi will proactively augment the depth and breadth of cooperation to commence next-generation EV models swiftly and efficiently to foray new market segments.

In India, SAIC runs its business through MG Motor India. Several Indian companies have also likely to show interest in the carmaker’s proposal, which plans to launch 4-5 cars over the subsequent five years.

SAIC Motor introduced in 2014 its innovative development strategy in the segments of electrification, intelligent connectivity, sharing, and globalisation.

The firm is a Chinese state-owned automobile manufacturer based in Shanghai, China.

Audi AG is a German automobile manufacturer of luxury vehicles based in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany.
