Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), visited the DEWA Innovation Centre to review its notable achievements, future plans for visitor engagement, strategic collaborations, and professional training programmes.
He was accompanied by Waleed Bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, along with other key officials.
Dr. Aaesha Abdulla Alnuaimi, Director of the Innovation Centre, provided a comprehensive briefing on the centre's accomplishments. The Innovation Centre has established itself as a hub for knowledge dissemination and professional development, reflecting a strong commitment to advancing sustainability, renewable energy, and innovation in Dubai.
Al Tayer praised the Innovation Centre for its achievements, which highlight Dubai's dedication to sustainability and innovation. The Centre's various programmes and initiatives play a critical role in educating and inspiring future generations, fostering innovation, and supporting the global transition to a green economy.
Additionally, the Centre has been pivotal in raising public awareness about sustainability and green initiatives in Dubai. Its educational efforts have attracted thousands of visitors, including the general public, students, and high-level delegations, thereby significantly contributing to Dubai’s environmental education landscape.
To date, the Innovation Centre has successfully trained and certified over 120 professionals in sustainability and renewable energy. Upcoming training sessions are set to focus on key areas such as sustainability, innovation, digital transformation, and renewable energy, reinforcing Dubai's position as a leader in green energy.
The Innovation Centre is committed to nurturing the next generation of clean energy leaders. Its annual summer programme, CleanTech Youth, has seen the graduation of 75 students over three cycles, with a fourth cycle planned for 2024. This programme equips young Emiratis with essential skills and knowledge for future careers in clean energy.
The Centre has also taken its educational mission on the road with the CleanTech Roadshow, reaching out to students at schools and universities to promote its initiatives and emphasize the importance of clean energy.
Further promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing, the Innovation Centre organized the Cleantech Connect Programme. This initiative brought together innovators, achievers, and researchers in clean energy to share their successes and advancements. The programme featured panel discussions, lectures, and specialized workshops in partnership with major local and international universities, startups, and companies.
