RWE Commissions 53.1 MW Mondonuovo Onshore Wind Farm in Italy

RWE has commissioned one of its largest onshore wind farms in Italy. The Mondonuovo wind farm consists of nine wind turbines, each with a capacity of 5.9 megawatts (MW). The wind farm, with a total capacity of 53.1 MW, is located in the municipality of Mesagne in the province of Brindisi in Apulia.

RWE has commissioned one of its largest onshore wind farms in Italy.

The Mondonuovo wind farm consists of nine wind turbines, each with a capacity of 5.9 megawatts (MW). The wind farm, with a total capacity of 53.1 MW, is located in the municipality of Mesagne in the province of Brindisi in Apulia and has the capacity to supply up to 55,000 Italian households with green electricity.

Around 150 RWE employees and experts from external service providers participated in the construction.

Katja Wünschel, CEO of RWE Renewables Europe & Australia: "The commissioning of the Mondonuovo wind farm is an important milestone on our path to helping Italy build a clean, stable, and cost-effective energy supply. A big thank you to the RWE team, the municipality, and all the companies and partners involved. Our Italian renewable energy fleet can now supply more than 500,000 households. The next projects using Italian wind and solar energy are already in the starting blocks."

RWE is a major player in the Italian renewable energy market. The company pursues an integrated project approach that includes the development, construction, operation, and marketing of wind farms and solar power plants.

The company operates 17 onshore wind farms and one solar power plant in Italy with a total installed capacity of 589 MW, which can supply more than 500,000 Italian households.
