Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RRECL), Government of Rajasthan, and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advancing renewable energy deployment, energy transition strategies and sustainable development initiatives in Rajasthan.
TERI, based in India established in 1974, is an independent, multi-dimensional research organisation with capabilities in policy research, technology development and implementation. An innovator and agent of change in the energy, environment, climate change and sustainability space, TERI has pioneered conversations and action in these areas for over five decades.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at the RRECL Headquarters in Jaipur in the presence of Dr Rohit Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RRECL), Government of Rajasthan and other senior officials and representatives from both organisations.
The MoU was formally signed on behalf of the RRECL by Yogendra Mathur, Director (Technical), and by Girish Sethi, Senior Director, TERI.
The partnership aims to strengthen cooperation in areas including renewable energy, Agri-PV initiatives, energy storage solutions, grid integration, innovative policy frameworks, electric mobility, energy transition, emerging technologies and capacity building initiatives.
Delivering the welcome address, the CMD, RRECL underscored the vision of undertaking large-scale, replicable energy transition demonstration projects and emphasised the importance of engaging farmers, power offtakers and other stakeholders to accelerate Rajasthan’s clean energy ambitions and foster sustainable growth. He also highlighted that under this collaboration, RRECL and TERI will jointly undertake research and analytical initiatives, develop innovative financing structures, support pilot projects, organise stakeholder consultations and promote knowledge exchange for sustainable energy development.
The partnership will focus on several strategic areas including energy storage technologies such as battery energy storage systems, grid integration studies involving renewable energy and electric vehicles, and innovative solar solutions including Agri-PV, Building Integrated PV and rooftop integrated PV.
The partnership will also provide technical support for Distributed Renewable Energy Project Management Systems, policy and regulatory assistance to accelerate renewable energy projects, and work on emerging technologies such as smart distribution systems and digitisation of renewable energy infrastructure.
In addition, the collaboration will support studies and implementation of green belt and plantation requirements on designated government land during project development, alongside capacity building and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
The collaboration is expected to contribute significantly towards Rajasthan’s renewable energy roadmap and support India’s broader commitments towards sustainable development and climate action.
