RoadGrid Secures INR 13 Cr TDB Support to Scale Manufacturing of Patented Universal EV Chargers
RoadGrid India has secured INR 13 crore in financial assistance from the Technology Development Board, under the Department of Science and Technology, to establish a manufacturing and assembly facility for its patented Universal EV Charger.

The upcoming facility will be developed with an investment of INR 27.5 crore, including INR 18 crore towards manufacturing infrastructure. It will have an annual production capacity of 2,000 Universal EV Chargers, with commercial production expected to commence in March 2027, stated the company.
It further added that RoadGrid’s patented Universal EV Charger integrates a 140 kW dual DC charging system supporting CCS2 and Type 6 connectors, along with AC charging capability. The charger is designed as a single integrated platform capable of serving electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger vehicles and commercial EVs.
The manufacturing facility will undertake end-to-end production and assembly of power electronics, thermal management systems, embedded software, communication modules, metering systems, control hardware, enclosure fabrication, quality testing, calibration and final system integration. The company stated that the project will be built with 100 percent localisation to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities for advanced EV charging equipment.
Founded in 2020, RoadGrid develops indigenous EV charging hardware, software platforms and energy management solutions. The company has secured two patents, deployed more than 100 EV chargers, manages over 200 charging points, and serves six enterprise customers across Indore, Mumbai and Kolkata. It has also partnered with VinFast, HPCL and IOCL.
Commenting on the development, Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary, Technology Development Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, said, “The rapid expansion of reliable and interoperable charging infrastructure is fundamental to accelerating electric mobility in India. Indigenous development and manufacturing of advanced EV charging technologies will strengthen the domestic clean mobility ecosystem, reduce import dependence and support the country’s transition towards sustainable transportation. The Technology Development Board remains committed to supporting technology-driven enterprises that are building globally competitive solutions for India’s green mobility future.”

The company expects the facility to generate annual revenues of around INR 100 crore at an initial production level of 1,000 chargers and will focus on meeting growing domestic demand. RoadGrid stated that the project is aimed at supporting the expansion of EV charging infrastructure across cities, highways, residential communities and commercial fleet operations, while contributing to India's growing electric mobility ecosystem.
