Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has announced plans to establish a 1 GW artificial intelligence (AI) data centre in Andhra Pradesh, marking a major expansion of the company’s presence in the state.

The new facility, designed as a twin to RIL’s gigawatt-scale AI data centre in Jamnagar, will be among Asia’s largest AI infrastructure networks. It will feature a fully modular, future-ready design capable of hosting advanced GPUs, TPUs, and AI processors. The investment deal was signed at the opening of the CII Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam, in the presence of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Minister for IT and Industries Nara Lokesh, and RIL Executive Director P M S Prasad.

RIL highlighted its goal to democratise access to AI through the MyJio platform, providing professional-level AI tools to students, farmers, entrepreneurs, and households. To power the data centre sustainably, the company will also develop a 6 GWp solar power project in Andhra Pradesh.

The announcement is part of RIL’s broader investment strategy in the state, where it has already invested more than USD 25 billion across oil and gas, digital services, and retail sectors. The company also unveiled plans for a greenfield integrated food park in Kurnool, spread over 170 acres, which will manufacture beverages, packaged drinking water, chocolates, snacks, and atta, and is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs.

In line with Andhra Pradesh’s green-growth agenda, RIL will expand its integrated compressed biogas (CBG) hubs to promote natural farming, enhance soil health, and support rural economies. The company began its first CBG plant in Prakasam in April this year.

Reacting to the announcement, Chief Minister Naidu said, “Andhra Pradesh is entering a new era of technology-led growth, sustainability, and industrial resurgence. Reliance’s landmark investments will generate high-quality jobs, open opportunities for our youth, and accelerate the state’s journey towards a cleaner, more prosperous future.”

Prasad added, “Reliance is here not just to invest, but to build, empower, and serve. Together, we will create a brighter, cleaner, smarter, and more prosperous Andhra Pradesh, not only for this generation but for many generations to come.”

Minister Lokesh emphasised the state’s focus on faster project clearances, noting, “The single most important requirement for a company is speed. We are ready to work with the Government of India to bring reforms that ensure your business not only succeeds but thrives in our great country.”
