RIL, First Solar and Shirdi Sai Bid for 15.4 GW for End to End Solar Production

RIL and Shirdi Sai have tender for 6 GW whereas First Solar has bid for 3.4 GW.

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), First Solar and Shirdi Sai have tendered for array of polysilicon wafer cells modules (PWCM) making proportion for an overall of 15.4 GW under the second tranche of the production linked incentive (PLI) scheme for solar equipment manufacturing.

RIL and Shirdi Sai have tender for 6 GW whereas First Solar has bid for 3.4 GW.

Under the PLI directive for the second phase, of the overall collection worth INR 19,000 crore, the highest allotment of INR 12,000 crore has been allotted to all over PWCM manufacturing (organic matter to final product).

Contrary to the first round, this stage of solar PLI has three schemes – PWCM and wafer-cells-modules, with issuing of INR 4,500 crore and cells-modules with INR 3,500 crore.

The body of authority for the second tranche of tendering has also been modified to Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) from Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) earlier.

The second phase had countably 11 bidders amidst - Tata Power Solar, Vikram Solar, Waaree Energies, ReNew Solar, Avaada Ventures, JSW Renewable, Ampin Solar and Green Energy. Tata Power is determined to place a tender for 3 GW of solar cell and module potential.

First Solar is a US-based solar module producer that has been functioning in India as a module supplier for nearly a decade. This would entitled as first manufacturing unit in India.

Andhra Pradesh-headquartered Shirdi Sai, an obligatory from phase-I, makes power transmission and supply equipment.
