Resonia Ltd. has been awarded the Kurnool IV Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Phase II interstate transmission system (ISTS) project in Telangana by the Ministry of Power, strengthening transmission infrastructure required for large-scale renewable energy integration in southern India.
The project is aimed at facilitating the evacuation of approximately 3 GW of renewable energy capacity planned under the Kurnool IV REZ Phase II and enhancing transmission connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is expected to improve grid flexibility, strengthen interstate power transfer capability, and support India's expanding clean energy capacity.
The transmission project spans around 120 km and includes the development of a 765/400 kV Doma substation, augmentation of the existing Kurnool-IV pooling station, and associated high-capacity transmission infrastructure. The scope also covers the loop-in loop-out (LILO) of the Kurnool-IV–Bidar 765 kV double-circuit transmission line at Doma, along with two 400 kV double-circuit transmission lines connecting the new substation to the existing Shadnagar and Kethiredipally substations operated by TGTRANSCO.
Commenting on the project award, Prashant Sinha, CEO of Resonia Ltd., said the project highlights the growing importance of robust interstate transmission infrastructure in India's energy transition. He noted that as renewable energy deployment accelerates, high-capacity transmission networks are essential for efficient power evacuation, grid reliability, and achieving national decarbonisation goals.
According to the company, the project further strengthens its position in India's transmission sector and supports the country's efforts to integrate increasing volumes of renewable energy while ensuring reliable electricity delivery across regions.
Resonia Ltd., formerly known as Sterlite Grid32 Ltd., currently operates more than 14,499 circuit kilometres of transmission lines across India. The company is known for deploying advanced technologies such as helicopters for transmission line construction and drones for surveying and monitoring activities to improve project execution efficiency.
The company stated that the project aligns with India's long-term power sector expansion plans and supports the national objective of significantly increasing installed power generation capacity by 2032. Following the demerger of the infrastructure business of Sterlite Power Transmission Limited into Sterlite Grid 5 Limited in October 2024 and the subsequent joint venture with GIC, transmission projects in India are being executed through Resonia Ltd.
