Resonia Bags Bronze Award for Kishtwar Transmission Project

Resonia, a power transmission company, has won the Bronze Award in the Construction, Engineering and Infrastructure category for its Kishtwar Transmission (KwTL) at the IPMA Global Awards 2026, in Hiroshima, Japan.

KwTL is INR 4.07 billion (USD 45.23 million) transmission project executed over 36 months to evacuate 3,014 MW of hydropower from Jammu and Kashmir’s Chenab Valley to India’s National Grid. The project strengthens the Northern Grid and is expected to positively impact approximately 13.83 million people.

The Chenab Valley has significant hydropower potential. However, reliable transmission infrastructure is essential to carry the electricity generated in the region to homes, businesses and industries across the country. KwTL addresses this requirement by connecting clean hydropower from the valley to the National Grid, strengthening grid reliability and supporting India’s transition towards cleaner energy.

Located in a challenging mountainous region, the project was executed amid difficult terrain, harsh weather conditions and limited accessibility. Transporting heavy equipment, constructing transmission infrastructure and coordinating activities across remote locations required careful planning, engineering expertise and effective project management.

This global recognition builds on KwTL’s earlier success at the PMA India National Project Excellence Awards 2026, where the project was recognised for excellence in project management, innovation and stakeholder engagement.
