In a bid to address the pressing issue of climate change, Renewables.org, a Brooklyn-based solar energy non-profit, has joined forces with Dyme, an Austin-based climate tech company, to strengthen investments in clean energy projects across India and Africa.

The collaboration aims to provide Renewables.org with additional resources for its initiatives with solar developers, enabling the organization to expand its reach and impact in communities striving for sustainable energy solutions. Through this partnership, Dyme will allocate profits generated from its eco-friendly shopping extension towards Renewables.org's projects, empowering consumers to contribute to the global transition to clean energy with every purchase.

Renewables.org CEO and Founder, Lassor Feasley, emphasized the significance of investing in solar projects across the Global South, stating, "Dollar for dollar, money spent on solar across the Global South creates a greater CO2 impact than any other investment or product we’ve analyzed."

Sunil Chandra, Founder and CEO of Dyme, highlighted the critical need for capital in regions lacking access to resources for renewable energy development. He emphasized, "There are simply not enough resources to meet our goals to net zero, especially in countries that lack access to capital, vital for industries such as renewable energy."

The timing of the partnership is crucial, considering the escalating emissions in developing nations like India, where emissions per capita have doubled over the last two decades. Additionally, Africa, while contributing only 4 percent of global carbon emissions, faces disproportionate vulnerability to the impacts of climate change.

Through Dyme and Renewables.org's collaboration, members can actively contribute to mitigating climate change while enjoying the convenience of online shopping. With access to over 17,000 participating stores, members can seamlessly support solar energy projects while benefiting from discounts of up to 20 percent. Furthermore, they can purchase gift cards from over 600 brands, including Doordash, Uber, REI, and Chipotle, all while championing sustainable initiatives at no additional cost.

Feasley expressed enthusiasm about the partnership's potential to accelerate the energy transition, stating, "Together, we can help accelerate the energy transition and enable consumers to make more environmentally conscious choices on a daily basis."

Chandra echoed Feasley's sentiments, emphasizing the alignment between sustainability and everyday activities facilitated by the partnership. He remarked, "This initiative seamlessly integrates sustainability into everyday activities, allowing individuals to contribute to a greener future without sacrificing convenience or affordability."
