ACME Solar Holdings, ReNew Power, Bhalki Solar Power (Rays Power Infra), Purvah Green Power, Jindal Green and Ayana Renewable power have emerged as winners in REMC’s (a joint venture between the Ministry of Railways and RITES) auction to procure 1,000 MW of round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy.

The auction discovered a uniform tariff of INR 4.35/kWh. While ReNew Power, Bhalki Solar Power have won 200 MW each, Purvah Green Power has bagged 180 MW. Jindal Green, Ayana Renewable power and ACME Solar have secured 150 MW, 140 MW and 130 MW, respectively.

The tender for this was floated in July 2025.

The projects and their renewable generation assets – along with any integrated storage systems – can be set up anywhere in the country, whether co-located at a single site or spread across multiple locations.

Indian Railways will be the end user and requires a consistent power profile throughout the day due to its unique load requirements. The Railways will enter into a direct Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the winning bidders without any intermediary.

The tariff discovered demonstrates the competitiveness of renewable energy to provide high CUF power throughout the day by co-locating Solar/wind and battery at competitive price.

The winning bidders are required to supply renewable energy complemented with dispatchable sources and/or Energy Storage Systems (ESS) from ISTS-connected projects to ensure firm, round-the-clock clean power, in line with the obligations laid out in the tender document.

It mandates a minimum annual availability of 75 percent for the first three contractual years from commissioning and 85 percent thereafter. This will necessitate a multiplier of contracted capacity of solar and battery installation with an optimal amount of complementary wind power as and when required.

“ACME Solar will commission this project within 30 months of signing the PPA. This commissioning will be expedited by availability of land and connectivity available within the ACME portfolio,” noted ACME Solar Holdings in a statement.
