November 06, 2026. By EI News Network

REMC Ltd., a subsidiary of RITES Ltd., has signed a Framework for Action (FFA) with the International Solar Alliance (ISA) to strengthen co-operation in solar and associated renewable energy technologies, including battery energy storage systems (BESS).

The agreement was signed in New Delhi during the Ninth Session of the ISA Assembly. It will focus on capacity building, knowledge exchange, technical assistance and renewable energy project development.

Under the partnership, the organisations will develop competency-based training programmes covering solar and allied renewable energy technologies, including BESS. The collaboration will also provide technical assistance for renewable energy projects, including feasibility assessments, technical due diligence, preparation and review of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), and support for project execution.

The agreement will also facilitate knowledge sharing on renewable energy policies, regulatory frameworks, open access, power procurement mechanisms, carbon markets, greenhouse gas accounting and Net Zero pathways.

The partnership will combine ISA's international network and expertise with REMC's experience in renewable energy development, power procurement and energy management. It is also expected to support Indian Railways' transition towards renewable energy and its Net Zero ambitions, while enabling the exchange of relevant experience with other countries and institutions through ISA's network.

REMC Ltd. is a joint venture between the Ministry of Railways and RITES Ltd. It facilitates cost-effective power procurement and energy management for Indian Railways through the open access mechanism and serves as the nodal agency for implementing Indian Railways' Mission Net Zero Carbon Emission by 2030.
