Relux Electric Pvt. Ltd., India’s EV charging infrastructure providers, has teamed up with the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) to set up nine new EV charging stations across the city.
These government-owned locations mark the first phase of Tamil Nadu’s clean mobility push, following TNGECL’s larger partnership with Relux to deploy 500 charging stations across the state.
Unlike existing setups, these upcoming stations will be placed in high-footfall, easy-access public zones, making EV charging far more convenient for Chennaiites on the go.
An official from GCC said the initiative aims to accelerate Chennai’s shift toward cleaner mobility, noting, “Through this collaboration with Relux Electric and TNGECL, we aim to support a seamless transition to sustainable, environment-friendly transport. Expanding reliable EV charging access across prominent public spaces reinforces our commitment to building cleaner, energy-efficient urban infrastructure for the benefit of all citizens.”
The nine stations will be installed at key city hotspots: Marina Beach Parking, Besant Nagar Beach Parking, Nageswara Rao Park (Mylapore), Bougainvillea Park (Anna Nagar), Semmozhi Poonga (Teynampet), Corporation Playground Parking (T. Nagar), Somasundaram Park (T. Nagar), Mangal Lake Park (Ambattur), and Ashtalakshmi Temple Parking (Besant Nagar).
Dr. Karthikeyan S., Managing Director, Relux Electric Pvt. Ltd., said, “We’re thrilled to be part of Chennai’s journey toward sustainable urban mobility. Our charging infrastructure is designed to deliver fast, reliable, and globally benchmarked user experiences. With support from GCC and TNGECL, we hope to build stronger public confidence in EVs and contribute to the vision of a greener, low-carbon Chennai.”
All nine stations are expected to be operational before December 2025. Each site spans around 500 sq ft, supports simultaneous charging for two cars and three two-wheelers, and includes fast-charging options for four-wheelers.
The initiative strengthens Tamil Nadu’s broader EV roadmap, expanding charging access, cutting emissions, and enabling cleaner mobility for the future.
