NHPC’s auction (Tranche-XI) for setting up 1,200 MW ISTS-connected solar projects with 600 MW/2,400 MWh energy storage systems has attracted an L1 (lowest bid) tariff of INR 3.13/kWh.

Reliance Infrastructure emerged as the L1 bidders and secured the highest capacity of 390 MW. PNC Infratech and SAEL Industries secured 300 MW each, and JBM Renewables bagged 150 MW — all at a tariff of INR 3.13/kWh. Navayuga Engineering Company was awarded 60 MW out of its quoted 200 MW under the bucket-filling method, at the same tariff.

The tender was floated in March 2025 and includes a greenshoe option to allocate an additional 1.2 GW.

Projects will be developed on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis. The tender mandates ESS of at least 0.5 MW/2 MWh capacity for 1 MW of contracted solar capacity.

The project must be designed for interconnection with the ISTS in accordance with prevailing CERC regulations.

The cells and modules used in the project must be sourced only from the models and manufacturers included in the ‘Approved List of Models and Manufacturers’ as published by MNRE and updated as on the date of commissioning of the project.
