Reliance Industries Ltd. has announced plans to commission a groundbreaking New Energy Giga Complex in Gujarat during the second half of 2024, according to a recent statement.
The sprawling complex, spread across 5,000 acres in Jamnagar, Gujarat, is set to become one of the largest integrated renewable energy manufacturing facilities globally.
The Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex comprises five giga factories dedicated to the production of photovoltaic panels, fuel cell systems, green hydrogen, energy storage, and power electronics. Reliance is on track to initiate the phased commissioning of these state-of-the-art facilities later this year.
According to the company, it is creating a fully integrated, end-to-end solar photovoltaics (PV) manufacturing ecosystem, which will be one of the largest, most technologically advanced, flexible, and most cost-competitive solar giga factories globally.
The Jamnagar solar PV and cell module factory will be the first-of-its-kind 'quartz-to-module' facility globally, with components from quartz to metallurgical silicon, polysilicon, and ingots/wafers, that will be integrated with cells and modules.
Reliance Industries has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government for a colossal 100 GW of renewable power, with a capital expenditure of INR 5 lakh crore. Reliance had received in-principle approval for 74,750 hectares of land parcels in Kutch for green hydrogen production.
