Reliance Commissions GW-Scale HJT Solar Module Line, Targets 10 GW capacity

Reliance Industries has commissioned its first gigawatt-scale Heterojunction (HJT) solar module line featuring modules rated up to 720 Wp and aims to scale the capacity of the integrated facility to 10 GW by 2026.

Reliance Industries has commissioned its first gigawatt-scale HJT solar module manufacturing line and is advancing plans to build battery storage facilities, the company announced in its FY25 investor presentation.

The move is part of its USD 10 billion green energy roadmap, unveiled in 2021, targeting renewables, storage, and hydrogen to achieve net-zero emissions by 2035.

The company's initial line for solar photovoltaic (PV) modules has been commissioned, with capacity designed to quickly scale from 10 GW to 20 GW annually, said CFO V. Srikanth Venkatachari further adding that the company is also focused on a 30 GW battery manufacturing facility.

“We have commissioned our first gigawatt-scale solar module line. Production has started, and the modules are already BIS-certified. I would also highlight that we have developed one of the largest panels in terms of size, with a peak output of 720 watts — possibly the largest panel we have,” he said.

He further added, “When I talk about solar, I just want to remind everyone that it covers the entire chain — from polysilicon to ingot, to wafer, to cell, to panel — along with glass and POE (polyolefin elastomer) production. When we say we are integrated, we truly mean end-to-end integration.”

Reliance is building massive ‘giga factories’ over 5,000 acres at Jamnagar, Gujarat, to manufacture solar panels, batteries, hydrogen electrolysers, and fuel cells. The company also aims to build a fully integrated green hydrogen-to-green chemicals complex in Kandla, Gujarat, and develop 55 compressed biogas (CBG) plants by 2025, 10 of which are already operational.
