Polycab India Ltd. has launched a hybrid inverter and battery pack at the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2026 in Greater Noida, expanding its solar product portfolio as the integration of solar power generation and energy storage gains importance in the renewable energy sector.

The company showcased the new offerings alongside its range of solar inverters, cables and balance-of-system products at the expo, held from October 22 to 24. Its portfolio caters to residential, commercial, industrial and utility-scale solar applications.

Polycab entered the solar segment in 2012 with the manufacture of solar DC cables and introduced solar on-grid inverters in 2016. Since then, it has expanded its product range to include solar inverters, cables and associated electrical components.

The company's India-manufactured solar grid-tie inverters cover capacities ranging from 2 kW to 350 kW. Polycab said that it had supplied 6 GW of inverter capacity through more than 11 lakh inverters. According to the company, its inverters account for 30 percent of rooftop installations completed under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, based on the latest estimates from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

At REI Expo 2026, the company is showcasing residential, commercial and industrial, hybrid and utility-grade inverters, along with AC/DC distribution boxes, solar cables and accessories, including lugs, glands and jointing kits.

Polycab currently supplies utility-scale inverters with capacities of up to 350 kW and plans to introduce a 500 kW platform in 2027. The proposed expansion is intended to strengthen its participation in utility-scale solar projects and emerging opportunities linked to the PM-KUSUM scheme and floating solar development under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana.

The company is also preparing for the increasing technical requirements of power grids with higher renewable energy penetration. It plans to develop advanced grid-forming inverter technology to support grid stability and resilience.

Its hybrid inverter and battery energy storage system (BESS) offerings are aligned with the growing integration of storage into rooftop solar installations. Polycab also sees potential opportunities in the next phase of the PM Surya Ghar programme, referred to in the company's announcement as PM Surya Ghar 2.0, with a greater focus on storage and grid readiness.

Anurag Agarwal, CEO – Global Exports & New Businesses at Polycab India Ltd., said that the solar inverter market had evolved over the past decade, with technological developments and changing energy requirements creating new opportunities for growth.

He said  that the company aimed to build on its experience and expand its capabilities as India works towards its target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based energy capacity by 2030. Agarwal also said  that Polycab's focus on quality, energy efficiency and regulatory compliance was reflected in the completion of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) registration for its solar inverter portfolio up to 100 kW.

Polycab is continuing to invest in its domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem, with an emphasis on backward integration, innovation and localisation to strengthen supply chain resilience and expand its manufacturing capabilities.

The company said that ts participation in the expo was aimed at engaging with engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies, consultants, project developers and renewable energy professionals on emerging solar technologies and evolving project requirements.
