REI Expo 2025 to Host Season 5 of Solar Premier League

The Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2025, scheduled from October 30 to November 1 at the India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida, will host the fifth edition of the Solar Premier League (SPL) — a high-voltage skill showcase that puts the spotlight not just on what we build, but how we build it.

REI, known as one of India’s largest clean energy gatherings, is expected to bring together over 1,000 exhibitors and 50,000 visitors. This year’s edition will highlight not only new technologies but also serve as a national platform for skills, sustainability, and empowerment.

The Solar Premier League (SPL) is a live, skill-based challenge where participants demonstrate how to professionally install solar energy systems — from mounting panels and managing cabling to connecting inverters and ensuring safety protocols. In its fifth season, SPL is shifting from standalone stages to REI’s mega platform.

In a powerful push towards inclusivity, SPL Season 5 will feature an All-Women Solar Installation Team. This initiative highlights the rising role of women in the green energy workforce — not just in leadership, but on the ground, in action.

The SPL is open to all — solar professionals, training centres, and even freelancers. At the core of SPL is performance under pressure. Participants will be evaluated on: Speed and accuracy of installation, safety and compliance protocols, system functionality and performance, and team coordination and problem-solving. This year, the competition will also introduce modules focused on new technologies — including hybrid systems, energy storage, and smart metering — making it a testbed for future-ready talent.

India aims to install 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030, but meeting that goal will require a large, skilled workforce. Industry estimates suggest 1.7 million skilled professionals will be required in the renewable energy sector by 2027, against a current shortfall of over 1.2 million.

Hosted within REI 2025’s vibrant ecosystem of innovation, policy, and investment, SPL Season 5 directly addresses the skills gap by recognising, rewarding, and recruiting hands-on solar talent. SPL Season 5 at REI 2025 sends a clear message: “The future of energy is not just solar-powered — it's skill-powered.”
