REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd. (RECPDCL) has announced that the company has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to implement 11.1 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar PV systems across 76 ICAR institutes in 24 States and Union Territories in India.

Under the agreement, rooftop solar systems with an aggregate capacity of 11,109.87 kW will be implemented on a turnkey basis. The projects are expected to generate approximately 1.73 crore units of clean electricity annually, stated RECPDCL.

ICAR will fund the projects, while RECPDCL will serve as the turnkey implementation partner. The company will undertake end-to-end execution through its empanelled EPC-cum-O&M agencies, covering design, engineering, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the systems.

Following commissioning, RECPDCL will also provide comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) services for five years.

The MoA was signed by Jaspal Singh Kushwaha, General Manager, Renewable Division, RECPDCL, and Kumar Rajesh, Director (GAC), ICAR, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations, including M.L. Jat, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR, and Prince Dhawan, CEO, RECPDCL.

RECPDCL's role in the initiative follows its designation by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) as the Scheme Implementation Partner (SIP) for Government Building Solarisation under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.

The project will support the deployment of rooftop solar across government agricultural research institutions and is expected to reduce their dependence on conventional electricity while increasing the use of renewable energy.
