REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC, has announced that it has handed over two project-specific Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) pertaining to Intra-State Transmission Projects in the State of Maharashtra under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route to Ceigall India and the Tata Power Company.
RECPDCL has handed over Velgaon Power Transmission, an SPV formed for an Intra-State Transmission Project of Maharashtra, to Ceigall India for the development of the transmission project on a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis.
The project broadly covers the establishment of a 400/220 kV Velgaon Substation (GIS) and LILO of 400 kV Double Circuit and 220 kV Double Circuit & Single Circuit lines at Velgaon Substation, along with other associated works.
The SPV was formally handed over by Vijay Kulkarni, Senior General Manager and Head of Department (T&D), RECPDCL, to Dr. Sudhir Rao Hoshing, Whole-time Director, Ceigall India, in the presence of senior officials of RECPDCL, Ceigall India and Maharashtra STU. The implementation period of the project is 24 months.
On the same day, RECPDCL also handed over Jejuri Hinjewadi Power Transmission, another SPV for an Intra-State Transmission Project of Maharashtra, to The Tata Power Company for development of the transmission project on a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis.
The scheme envisages the establishment of a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line of approximately 115 km from Jejuri (existing) to Hinjewadi, along with other associated works.
The SPV was handed over by Vijay Kulkarni, Senior General Manager and Head of Department (T&D), RECPDCL, to Piyush Kumar, Head BD–T&D (International), The Tata Power Company. The implementation period of this project is also 24 months.
The successful handover of these two SPVs underscores RECPDCL’s continued role as a leading Bid Process Coordinator in strengthening the transmission infrastructure of the country through transparent and competitive bidding, thereby facilitating reliable and efficient power evacuation within the State of Maharashtra, the company stated.
