REconnect Summit Rajasthan 2026 Highlights Grid, Storage and Rooftop Solar Priorities

Rajasthan, India's largest solar power producing state, is strengthening its position in the country's clean energy transition with over 42.17 GW of installed solar capacity, expanding domestic manufacturing, growing battery energy storage system (BESS) deployment and an ambitious target of achieving 125 GW of renewable energy capacity.

Against the backdrop of Rajasthan's rapid renewable energy expansion, the second edition of REconnect Summit Rajasthan Edition 2026, organised by Energetica India magazine in Udaipur, brought together policymakers, DISCOMs, developers, manufacturers, EPC companies, technology providers, financiers, and industry leaders to discuss opportunities across the state's solar value chain.

In his welcome address, Hemant Arora, Director, Energetica India, said, "Rajasthan, with over 42 GW of installed solar capacity and more than 48 GW of renewable energy capacity, is leading India's clean energy transition. The state's ambitious target of achieving 125 GW of renewable energy capacity reflects its commitment to becoming a hub for innovation, investment, manufacturing, and energy security. Through the REconnect Summit Rajasthan 2026, we are bringing together policymakers, DISCOMs, developers, manufacturers, EPC companies, investors, technology providers, and industry experts to discuss grid integration, energy storage, transmission, financing, and policy, helping accelerate Rajasthan's clean energy ambitions and shape the next phase of India's energy transition."

The welcome address was followed by the inauguration of the REconnect Summit, addresses by the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, and a presentation by Deye New Energy.

The first panel discussion, titled, 'Scaling Distributed Solar in Rajasthan: Unlocking Rooftop, C&I and Decentralised Energy Opportunities,' examined the growth of rooftop and commercial and industrial solar markets. Moderated by Dr. Sathish Suri, Managing Director of GreenPath Energy & Sustainability Services, the session featured Anshul Paneri of Arktik Renewables & Energy Efficiency Pvt. Ltd., Ajay Yadav of the Renewable Energy Association of Rajasthan (REAR), Rakesh Kumar of Deye New Energy and Dishant Jagetia of Udaipur Green Energy Solutions.

Panelists called for PM Surya Ghar 2.0 to incorporate battery energy storage while highlighting DISCOMs' reluctance to accelerate solar penetration. They urged complete digitisation of approvals and loan processing, uniform implementation of smart metering and billing, and faster commissioning approvals, noting delays of three to six months are reducing returns on investment for captive solar projects.

Following presentations by Gautam Solar and Usha Shriram Solar, the second panel discussion, 'Building Rajasthan as India's Solar Manufacturing Hub,' explored the state's growing manufacturing ecosystem. The session was moderated by Avinash Choudhary of Helios included Tushant Jain, former R&D and Business Development Executive at Yingli Solar, Dr. Sathish Suri, Nikhil Gupta of Joint Solar and Jayesh C. Mistry of Cosmic PV Power Ltd.

The afternoon session focused on 'Utility Scale Solar & BESS: Powering Rajasthan's Energy Future,' with discussions on integrating battery energy storage systems into large scale renewable energy projects. Moderated by Amit Suman Thussu, the panel featured Dr. Bhawani Singh Rathore, Sanjay Kumar Khatik of Innoverge Energy, Sharad Gupta of Exeliq Tech Solutions, Tarunpreet Singh of Replus Engitech and Kamlesh Kataria of Kalpa Power.

Panelists said that sluggish renewable energy evacuation infrastructure is increasing renewable energy curtailment, underscoring the need for rapid Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) deployment to enable reliable round the clock power. They stressed that every BESS project requires site specific feasibility studies, warned against awarding tenders solely on the lowest tariff, highlighted accelerated battery degradation in Rajasthan's 45 to 48°C temperatures, and said 15 to 30 percent oversizing is necessary to maintain performance.

The summit concluded with the REconnect Awards 2026, followed by the closing plenary and networking session. Organisers announced that the next REconnect Summit Maharashtra Edition will be held in Pune on August 19, 2026.
