REC, WBSEDCL Hold National Vendor Meet to Accelerate Rooftop Solar Adoption in West Bengal
The REC-WBSEDCL vendor meet in Kolkata brings government agencies, DISCOMs, vendors and training partners together to address implementation challenges and accelerate rooftop solar installations under PM-Surya Ghar in West Bengal.

Under the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGY), a National Vendor Meet was recently conducted jointly by West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company (WBSEDCL) and REC at Hotel Taj Bengal, Kolkata, with an aim to strengthen the implementation of the scheme and accelerate rooftop solar installations across West Bengal.
The meeting was chaired by Santanu Basu, IAS, Principal Secretary, Power Department, Government of West Bengal. Officials from REC, CESC, the Government of West Bengal, State and National Vendors, and Training Partners also participated in the meeting.
Addressing the gathering, the Principal Secretary, Power Department, Government of West Bengal, emphasised that the implementation of PMSG:MBY in the state would be further strengthened through the active participation and coordinated efforts of both State and National Vendors. He affirmed the collective commitment of the Government of West Bengal, REC, WBSEDCL, Vendors, DISCOMs, financial institutions and other stakeholders towards accelerating rooftop solar adoption and strengthening the implementation of PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana in West Bengal.
REC headed by S. Jayanthi, ED presented the perspective of the scheme as Nodal Agency for implementation of PMSG:MBY. She urged National Vendors to deploy adequate manpower and requested brand owners to expand their channel partner network across West Bengal to facilitate faster installation of rooftop solar systems. She assured the stakeholders that REC, as the Nodal Agency for the implementation of PMSG:MBY, would extend all necessary support to expedite rooftop solar installations in the state, including addressing the issues faced by vendors, consumers and DISCOMs.
Also, during the meeting, Devinder, DGM REC and Raman Garg, DGM, REC delivered a presentation focused on increasing vendor participation, ensuring the quality of RTS plants, vendor rating and also outlined the provisions of training & capacity building for vendors under PMSGY in West Bengal.
The National Vendor Meet at Kolkata, West Bengal provided a platform for stakeholders to deliberate on implementation-related issues, strengthen coordination and identify measures to improve the pace of rooftop solar installations under the scheme.
