Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved the draft Green Hydrogen Policy-2023, aimed at promoting green energy initiatives in the state. Under this policy, companies engaged in green energy production will benefit from a range of subsidies and incentives as part of the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Policy-2022.

The 'Rajasthan Green Hydrogen Policy-2023' has been introduced to attract investors and explore clean energy sources within the state. Chief Minister Gehlot has given his approval to the policy draft, and the Energy Department will soon issue an official notification.

The substantial provisions of the policy include a 50 percent exemption in transmission and distribution charges for a decade for RE plants with a capacity of 500 kilotons per annum (KTPA) linked to the state's transmission network.

Furthermore, the policy offers 100 percent reimbursement or waiver of wheeling and transmission charges for power plants, along with the reimbursement or waiver of banking charges for a duration of seven to ten years.

The total demand for hydrogen in the country stands at 60 lakh tonnes, with Rajasthan accounting for 2.5 lakh tonnes of this demand. Hydrogen production is eco friendly, and the Central Government has launched the National Green Hydrogen Policy-2022 and Mission, which aims to produce 50 lakh tonnes of Green Hydrogen by 2030.
