Rajasthan has achieved a major milestone under the PM-KUSUM scheme, with installed solar capacity crossing 4,000 MW, marking a strong push toward decentralised renewable energy in rural regions.

The expansion has been driven under the state leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Energy Minister Heeralal Nagar. Over the last two and a half years, solar adoption has accelerated sharply, especially across farming communities.

Earlier, the state had only 92 solar plants totaling 122 MW, but this has now expanded to 1,808 plants with 4,000 MW capacity spread across rural and agricultural zones.

Around 2.62 lakh farmers are now benefiting from daytime electricity for irrigation and farming needs. The solar projects, each up to 5 MW, are being installed on non-cultivable land near farms, helping reduce power costs and strengthen clean energy supply.

Rajasthan currently ranks first in PM-KUSUM Component-A and third in Component-C nationwide, behind Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has also approved 10.7 GW of projects, all backed by signed power purchase agreements, with full completion expected in FY 2026–27. The state is now targeting an additional 6,700 MW by October 2026, with rapid monthly additions already being recorded.
