Pune Set to Install 52,000 LED Streetlights

The project received sanctions during the civic standing committee meeting.The streetlights that already have moreover CFL or other lights will be interchanged with LEDs in the successive phases

Pune Civic Standing Committee has announced that the city is set to install over 52,000 streetlights across the city fitted with LED bulbs at an outlay of Rs.19 crores. The project received sanctions during the civic standing committee meeting.

“This project is significant for the city to get better quality streetlights. It will also save power and bring down the amount of public money used on electricity bills for streetlights,” believed Yogesh Mulik, Chairman of The Committee.

“Top primacy will be given to the streetlight poles, which don’t have bulb fixtures. The civic body has planned to install more streetlights in the next financial year. The LEDs will be fitted on those poles too. The streetlights that already have moreover CFL or other lights will be interchanged with LEDs in the successive phases,” supposed Shrinivas Kandul, Head of PMC’s Electricity Department.
